CEO LETTER BOARD CHAIR LETTER FINANCIALS NEED IMPACT SPOTLIGHT DONORS AND FUNDERS

Impact

With thanks to our partners - including government funders, individual donors, foundations, corporations, and our board of directors - Caminar has continued to address the significant need for behavioral health services in our community. In 2021, we:

Moved forward our strategic plan priorities to position Caminar as a leading mission-driven behavioral health care organization in the Bay Area

Maintained positive cash flow despite the increased costs associated with the pandemic

Balanced operating safely in a pandemic – minimizing COVID infection risk for staff, clients, and the community both before vaccines were widely available and after – while continuing to serve our clients and the community with evidence-based psychiatric and clinical treatment, and programs for recovery, education, and prevention

Reached over 14,000 children and adults with behavioral health education, prevention, treatment, and recovery programs across five counties in the Bay Area and Northern California:

391 lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, and ally youth and young adults connected with a safe and supportive environment with mental health and wellness resources

533 young adults and adults gained skills to address the root causes of domestic violence, child abuse, and neglect to end cycles of violence and abuse

705 young adults and adults received supportive services to build networks of support, resume their education, or reenter the workforce

1,056 local youth, families, and teachers accessed counseling, consultation, and support through programs connected to their schools

1,327 individuals accessed life-changing housing and wrap-around supportive resources to keep them housed

1,860 adults moved forward in recovery from addiction

2,767 individuals received residential or outpatient mental health treatment, case management, and wellness services

5,590 individuals in the greater community learned from our Speakers Bureau to create environments that embody the values of equity, diversity, inclusion, and reduce stigma

Continued to measure our community health outcomes and meet or exceed goals, including reductions in hospitalizations, incarcerations, and homelessness, and increases in employment and community engagement:

Our adult specialty mental health practice serves individuals with chronic and serious mental health conditions with histories of unstable housing and frequent hospitalization and/or incarceration. Services include intensive case management and mental health treatment, engagement with psychiatry for medication management, and linkage with ancillary services such as substance use treatment and physical health care. In the fiscal year 2020-2021, these programs exceeded goals and improved the quality of life for these clients, their families, and our community. Because of our quality care, we always overperform on our goals, and we routinely outperform our competitors:

Caminar Jobs Plus is a full-service employment program providing evidence-based practices for people with disabilities seeking competitive employment. Employment has the potential to contribute to positive health outcomes for individuals with serious mental illnesses. In the fiscal year 2021, Jobs Plus clients reported both satisfaction and job retention that exceeded program goals:

Grew revenue generation capacity, thanks to the significant support of Caminar’s Behavioral Health Equity Fund, which was created to continue our response to the urgent behavioral health needs of the Bay Area’s underserved populations

Achieved recognition and accreditation from independent standards organizations in our industry:

Earned the Candid Platinum Seal of Transparency which acknowledges the extensive information added to our profile including contact and organizational information; in-depth financials; qualitative goal, strategy, and capability information; and quantitative results and progress toward our mission

Received Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) accreditation through March 2024, which demonstrates our adherence to international standards of quality and commitment to the pursuit of excellence in care
