Letter From Our Board Chair

Dear Supporters of Caminar,

I am deeply honored to serve as the Caminar board chair and am incredibly appreciative of you — Caminar’s donors and funders. I want to personally thank you for entrusting this organization with your investments that bring life-changing behavioral health treatment and care to many of our lowest-income neighbors, those who need it the most.

As board chair, I have the privilege of a remarkable partnership with Mark Cloutier, Caminar’s CEO. Mark and I speak often, and his depth of knowledge, experience, and leadership continue to impress me. Likewise, our dedicated board members have shown deep commitment through their work to create and adopt an aggressive and forward-thinking strategic plan and shepherd the organization through the challenges of last year.

Another highlight of my board service was the 10th annual In Concert with Caminar in October 2020. I was surprised and humbled when our song request of “Hallelujah,” dedicated to the Caminar staff, was performed by Sheléa.  It felt like the perfect culmination of respect and appreciation for this organization that is determined to improve all facets of health for our most vulnerable neighbors and our community.

This past year brought unprecedented challenges and changes. Caminar launched a major fundraising campaign, the Caminar Mental Health Regional Response Fund, to respond to the dramatic increase in need for mental health and substance use services due to the pandemic. This community responded, and you helped exceed the goal of raising $500,000 in six months. The year’s unbelievable difficulty was matched with an incredible outpouring of compassion and generosity that gives me great hope for a future with improved health and less suffering. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
