Celebrating Pride!

June is nationally recognized as LGBTQ+ Pride Month. This month commemorates the Stonewall Riots, which occurred in June 1969 and are considered a pivotal moment in the modern LGBTQ+ rights movement.

California Assemblymember Alex Lee of Assembly District 24 and Union Sanitary District Board Director Marty Kludjian hosted their annual local Pride Month Celebration on Saturday, June 7, 2025.

The celebration included recognition of leaders who work to advocate for LGBTQ+ communities. Among the honorees was our very own Adrienne Keel, Director of Caminar's LGBTQ Programs.

Happy Pride, all!

Caminar at the Mental Health Matters 5K

Caminar was delighted to participate in Star Vista and the San Mateo PAL MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS 2025 5K Run/Walk and Wellness Fair on Saturday, May 31. Joanne Wu Jennings, a member of Caminar’s board, and Mark Cloutier, Caminar’s CEO, enjoyed the run. Monica Gaviola, our Chief of Staff, and Rosalie Regudon, our incredible Administrative Assistant, prepared and staffed our outreach and information table.

Thank you, team, for showing up to support mental health and our community!

Valle Monte League Raised Over $292,800 for Mental Health Initiatives

A long-time beneficiary of Valle Monte League, Caminar is grateful to be included in the organization's recent announcement as a recipient of Valle Monte's generous funding.

According to their press release, "Valle Monte League is proud to announce that it has  raised over $292,800 at its 2024 Christmas Tree Elegance event to support mental health programs. The organization will equally distribute a total of $292,800 to three dedicated mental health agencies—(Centre for Living with Dying – Bill Wilson Center, Hearts & Minds Activity Center and Caminar’s Family & Children Services)—supporting and expanding their vital initiatives in helping individuals navigate mental health challenges.

The amount will be equally divided to bolster and develop innovative programs that directly address mental health needs in the community. These funds will enable them to enhance existing programs, develop new services, and reach more individuals in need of mental health support. By investing in these dedicated nonprofits, Valle Monte League aims to strengthen community-based resources, increase accessibility to mental health care, and raise awareness about mental health issues."
