An Open Message to Our Community
At Caminar, we believe that strong relationships are only built on a foundation of openness and trust. It is, very simply, who we are.
In early 2025, Caminar launched a comprehensive investigation into what appeared to be a misappropriation of funds by a senior member of our team. Now, we are openly sharing with our community what we know about what happened and how Caminar responded. We invite you to read “An Open Message From Caminar to Our Community.”

Belladonna's Story: Building Myself
“I essentially dropped out of high school, and something I did in the meantime was come to the LGBTQ Youth Space. The Youth Space was on 1st St. and the San Salvador area, and I would take the bus down there every day and walk from Santa Clara Street. I did that every day because I wasn't going to school, but it was like a second home for me. I met many people there. I met my drag mother there. I love her to her death, and I wouldn't be who I am without her.
And you know something about the LGBTQ Youth Space? The world thinks that we're forcing people to make changes to themselves, but I think that we encourage people to be and search for their authentic selves. That's something I learned, not how to find myself, but how to build myself.”
-Belladonna, LGBTQ Youth Space Alum and Drag Queen

Belladonna’s journey is just one of the many powerful stories made possible through the LGBTQ Youth Space and other Caminar programs. Because of your generous support, individuals like Belladonna are able to find belonging, encouragement, and the opportunity to build lives rooted in authenticity and hope. Please explore more inspiring client stories and see the meaningful impact your support continues to make.
