Caminar to Lead the Concord Mobile Dignity Center: A $1.6 Million Investment in Health, Stability, and Hope

At Caminar, we believe that every person deserves dignity, safety, and the opportunity to thrive. We are honored to share that the City of Concord has awarded our organization a $1.6 million grant to launch the Concord Mobile Dignity Center (CMDC), a two-year collaborative project designed to meet the critical needs of unhoused individuals and families in the City of Concord.

Beginning Thursday, February 12, Caminar and a network of nonprofit partners will deliver a wide range of compassionate, life-affirming services each week. Over the course of two years, the CMDC is expected to serve 300 residents experiencing homelessness in the City of Concord, creating pathways toward health, stability, and hope.

Meeting People Where They Are

The CMDC is rooted in a mobile resource unit strategy, bringing multiple service providers together at one accessible location. Participants will have access to:

  • Housing navigation and case management
  • Nutritious meals and food support
  • Clothing and hygiene supplies
  • Free showers and basic sanitation
  • Medical care
  • Mental health support

Most importantly, there will be no preconditions for receiving services. Employment, income, or sobriety will never be requirements to participate. Every individual and family will be welcomed with dignity and respect.

Solano Way Auto Support Proves Life Changing

Solano Way Auto has been supporting Caminar's mission since the inception of our City of Concord Rapid Rehousing program. As integral members of the community, Solano Way Auto helped refer our first two clients and has assisted us in maintaining contact with them, a difficult task with folks who are chronically unhoused. We are delighted to share that Solano Way Auto's support was invaluable, and the clients they referred to us are now housed.

This family-owned auto shop didn't stop there, as Solano Auto Way facilitated an undergarment drive for our newest program, the Concord Mobile Dignity Center. Undergarments are a common necessity for our unhoused community, and their generous act will undoubtedly be appreciated.

Your 2026 Caminar Gift Comes with a Tax Benefit

Did you know that 2026 brings a historic change to how your donations are recognized by the IRS? For the first time, you don’t need to itemize your taxes to see a benefit from your generosity.

Under the new One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA), even if you take the standard deduction, your gifts to Caminar this year can reduce your taxable income. You can now claim charitable deductions even if you do not itemize deductions.
