Caminar in the News

Caminar CEO Mark Cloutier, a member of the Forbes Nonprofit Council, authored his latest article on Forbes: "How Nonprofits Can Prioritize Mental Health."

While many nonprofits are facing immense challenges across the nation, Mark emphasizes the importance of taking care of our own employees to continue their amazing work. "The nonprofit sector is built on values of compassion, justice, and care. Let’s extend those values inward—to the people who make the work possible."

STEP into Trunk-Or-Treat

Our STEP Team had a blast spreading joy and resources at the 2025 Halloween Lowrider Trunk-or-Treat! Hosted at Hillview Library in San Jose in partnership with the United Low Rider Council of San Jose, this festive community event was a celebration of connection and care.

For the second year in a row, our team was thrilled to join families for an evening of fun, sharing vital information about our programs—Substance Use Outpatient, Intensive Outpatient, and Contingency Management—alongside sweet treats and smiles. Parents especially loved our self-acceptance tips, creatively themed around the hit Netflix show K-Pop Demon Hunters. It was a huge hit and sparked meaningful conversations about mental health in a way that felt approachable and fun.

Your generosity makes moments like these possible. Because of you, we can show up for our community with hope, resources, and the message that mental health matters.

Giving with the New Tax Laws

As the holiday season approaches, your support is more critical than ever. With the new tax laws now in effect, we wanted to remind you of different way to make your charitable gift have the greatest impact.

You may be wondering how these changes will impact your contributions and what steps you can take now to prepare. We wanted to remind you of our FAQ to help you navigate the new landscape and continue giving with confidence. Here's the first FAQ:

Why should I pay attention to this now if the new tax law doesn’t take effect until 2026?

Great question! While the new rules won’t apply until the 2026 tax year, the decisions you make in 2025 can have a big impact on your future giving strategy. This is the perfect time to:

Plan ahead with your financial advisor or tax preparer
Consider making larger gifts in 2025 before the new limits kick in
Explore tools like Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs) to maximize your deductions now and give over time

By understanding the changes early, you can make informed choices that align with your values and ensure your generosity continues to make a meaningful difference for you and the people Caminar serves.
