Supportive Services
Join us October 5, 2024 for In Celebration with Caminar! Learn more

This year, Caminar celebrates 60 years of providing quality, compassionate, and effective behavioral health care for the most vulnerable members of our Northern California communities.

Caminar began with El Camino House in San Mateo, designed to provide transitional supported housing for people who were returning to the community following a psychiatric hospitalization. In the first year, 41 clients were served.

Over the course of the last 60 years, Caminar evolved and expanded into what it is today: a thriving community-based mental health, substance use, and supportive services provider across six counties that served over 31,000 individuals last year.

As we look to the next 60+ years, we remain committed to our current clients, communities, and practices. We also look forward to expanding to serve more youth, families, and individuals with the treatment and support to evolve into the people they want to be.

To ensure the continued longevity and success of the organization and our support for the community, Caminar is evolving. This evolution is apparent in this new website, colors, and imagery. And more is coming in 2025!

The progression of our brand means we can better support our current clients while expanding our offerings to serve more communities in need.

In a world where mental health and substance use challenges can take over people's lives, Caminar exists as a beacon of safety and compassion. We stand firm, guided by our mission to build strength and stability and to help individuals and communities thrive.
