Jobs Plus: Opening Doors to Employment with Confidence and Purpose

At Caminar, we believe that healing and thriving happen when people are met with compassion, trust, and meaningful life opportunities. Our Jobs Plus program embodies this belief every day by helping community members with mental or physical differences build confidence, identify strengths, develop skills, and secure competitive employment that supports long‑term stability and well‑being.

Established in 1993, Jobs Plus is CARF accredited and recognized by California’s Department of Rehabilitation as one of our state’s Best Practices for Supported Employment. Today, our teams serve job seekers and employers in Butte, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara and Solano counties. We continue this proud legacy by offering personalized, whole‑person support to every individual who walks through our door.

Meeting People Where They Are with Respect and Hope

Many participants come to Jobs Plus during moments of transition: rebuilding after incarcerationjustice involvement, navigating a mental or physical health condition, or simply searching for a fresh start after a rough patch. Regardless of the journey that brought them to Caminar, our staff offer non‑judgmental guidance and encouragement grounded in one core finding over the years as stated by Caminar’s Director of Employment and Vocational Services, Jerry DatilloDattilo, “A person’s desire to work is the strongest predictor of success.”

To help individuals explore their strengths and goals, Jobs Plus provides every person who walks through our doors with a paid 40‑hour vocational assessment, one-on-one coaching, résumé and application assistance, interview preparation, and access to workplace clothing through partner vouchers. All of this is designed to empower participants to step confidently into the workforce.

“I have a good income to support my family. I feel I am a useful person… Caminar Jobs Plus changed my life.”

Powered by Community Partnership

Donor generosity is a crucial part of what makes this work possible. Your support helps sustain the deep, collaborative relationships we maintain with County Behavioral Health & Recovery Services, the Department of Rehabilitation, clinicians, case managers, and a wide array of local employers.

Thanks to these partnerships and the partnerships with local employers who share our commitment to inclusive hiring, Jobs Plus participants secure meaningful positions at places like San Francisco International Airport, Safeway, Trader Joe’s, Sherwin Williams, and Ross Dress for Less. Jobs Plus continues to support participants and their managers while they are employed to help ensure their long-term success.

“I’ve been at my job as a stock clerk for four years thanks to my job developer.”
