Celebrating Mental Health in May

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, a time to come together to break stigma, share understanding, and strengthen support. At Caminar, we are honored to walk alongside individuals and families on their mental health journeys, helping open the door to hope, healing, and fresh starts.

Thanks to your generosity, life‑changing care is possible. Your support ensures that people in our community have access to safe spaces and compassionate, evidence‑based, whole‑person care. Because of that, our clients have been able to create opportunities for growth, stability, and thriving futures. We are deeply grateful for you and the impact you make every day.

A Time to Celebrate at the Caminar Teen and Family Wellness Center – Palo Alto

We kicked off Mental Health Awareness Month with a joyful celebration at our new Caminar Teen and Family Wellness Center - Palo Alto. Supporters and community members gathered to tour the space, connect, and share why safe, welcoming places like this matter so deeply.

At the Caminar Teen and Family Wellness Center - Palo Alto, we ensure that teens and families facing stress, anxiety, and trauma are never alone. Through confidential, compassionate, whole‑person care, we help young people build emotional strength and resilience while supporting families in creating healthier communication and stronger connections.

Fresh Starts Made Possible

Spring is the season of growth and new beginnings. At Caminar, it’s a reminder that fresh starts are always possible with the right support. Every day, individuals facing mental health and substance use challenges take brave steps toward stability and healing. Thanks to the generosity of our community, those steps are met with compassion, dignity, and evidence‑based, whole‑person care.

April's Journey is one powerful example. After years of homelessness and substance use, April connected with Caminar’s STEP program when she had nowhere else to turn. Following her release from custody, STEP offered an immediate helping hand. With the consistent encouragement and wraparound support of her case manager, April rebuilt her life—reuniting with her children, returning to school, becoming a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor, and establishing a stable home. Today, she works for the same Caminar program that once supported her recovery.

Reflecting on her journey, April shares:

“I owe STEP my life. Everything in my life has changed.”

Her story is a testament to what kindness can make possible and to the lasting impact of standing beside someone as they begin again. As we move through spring, we are deeply grateful for the generosity that fuels Caminar’s work and helps open doors to hope and possibility for so many.

We invite you to join us in building hope for clients like April today.
