At Caminar, we believe that every person deserves dignity, safety, and the opportunity to thrive. We are honored to share that the City of Concord has awarded our organization a $1.6 million grant to launch the Concord Mobile Dignity Center (CMDC), a two-year collaborative project designed to meet the critical needs of individuals and families experiencing homelessness in our community.

We will bring together a network of nonprofit partners to deliver a wide range of compassionate, life-affirming services. Over the course of two years, the CMDC is expected to serve 300 residents experiencing homelessness in the City of Concord, creating pathways toward health, stability, and hope.

Meeting People Where They Are

The CMDC is rooted in a mobile resource unit strategy, bringing multiple service providers together at one accessible location. Participants will have access to:

  • Housing navigation and case management
  • Nutritious meals and food support
  • Clothing and hygiene supplies
  • Free showers and basic sanitation
  • Medical care
  • Mental health support

Most importantly, there will be no preconditions for receiving services. Employment, income, or sobriety will never be requirements to participate. Every individual and family will be welcomed with dignity and respect.

How the CMDC Will Make an Impact

Homelessness is a complex issue, but the CMDC aims to address it holistically, meeting immediate needs while serving as a bridge to longer-term support. Specifically, the CMDC will:

  • Promote Hygiene and Health: Reduce the spread of illness, infections, and skin conditions by offering safe shower facilities, hygiene supplies and medical services.
  • Provide Nutritious Meals: Ensure every participant has access to regular, healthy food.
Enhance Dignity and Self-Esteem: Help individuals maintain cleanliness, boosting confidence and mental well-being.
  • Facilitate Social Reintegration: Support participants in preparing for job interviews, employment, or social interactions by meeting basic needs that are often barriers to re-entering society.
  • Reduce Stigma: Help combat the discrimination faced by unhoused neighbors by empowering them to present themselves in ways that feel socially accepted.
  • Connect to Additional Services: Act as a gateway to housing assistance, medical care, and mental health support.
  • Improve Community Cleanliness: Reduce reliance on public spaces, such as waterways, for bathing—helping both the community and the environment.

Where to Find Services

The CMDC site will be established at:

  • First Christian Church of Concord, 3039 Willow Pass Road, Concord, CA 94519 *a centrally located site near other services and public transportation
  • CMDC will be available every Thursday from 3-8pm, starting on Thursday, February 12, 2026
  • Medical services will be available the second Thursday of each month

Looking Ahead

The Concord Mobile Dignity Center represents a $1.6 million investment in the health, well-being, and future of our community. Over the next two years, we will work hand-in-hand with the City of Concord and our other partner organizations—including First Christian Church of Concord, Loaves and Fishes, NAMI Contra Costa, Pleasant Hill Seventh-day Adventist Church, RotaCare and White Pony Express—to bring this vision to life.

Caminar’s mission is to build strength and stability in our community, and we are honored to walk alongside individuals on their journeys to resilience and hope. With the CMDC, we are proud to extend our mission to Concord’s unhoused residents, meeting them with compassion, restoring dignity, and building a stronger community for all.
